Exceptional customer service
By Lester Gosoroski, September 16, 2016
I purchased this product to install on my Ford F150. It was easy with no splicing of wires. Just what I wanted. When pulling my camping trailer I noticed that my vehicle said "trailer disconnected". I had no brakes working on my camper. I called tech support and they sent me out a new wiring harness and I received it the next day. I replaced the original harness and it works great. The tech rep was very pleasant any understood the problem I had and had the solution to correct it. Could not ask for any better customer service.
Top notch Customer Service
By Mike, March 17, 2016
The product itself is as advertised, it is excellent for hitching up and saving arguments with your spouse, worth it's wait in gold there. The customer service is what impressed me though. I required an extender. no questions asked, mailed that day. I had an issue with the sensors, a couple easy questions, and new plate is in the mail. The product is excellent for it's price range, and for most vehicles, zero splicing into wiring. Exactly what I was looking for.
Easy trailer connecting
By George, February 17, 2016
Installed myself on 2008 Frontier crew cab. with manufactures trailer wiring install.
Connections supplied did not fit Nissan OEM connector so was advised to cut off supplied connection and hard wire power cable to taillight
All worked well.
The hardest part was crawling under the truck without a lift to secure wiring into cab.
Note: this is a HITCH CAMERA view not a all round "back up camera View".
Oh yes, the mounting on the rear plate does get very wet and dirty so be prepared to clean as necessary.
Excellent Product - Excellent Service

Installed this product on my 2007 Chevrolet 2500HD. Install was easy and the product works great. The camera/monitor is very clear. A little more than a year after the install I began to have an issue where the monitor would white out. I called Hopkins technical support and they sent me an entire kit to repair the problem. Josh suspected it was the license plate/camera mount and it was. I installed the bracket/camera assemble and returned the remainder of the kit in its pre-paid pacakge. It is worth mentioning that I recieved this as a gift so it was purchased through a secondary vender and it was out of warranty at the time I called Hopkins. It is so nice to deal with a company that has positive customer service. Thanks Hopkins!
Saves me from losing my temper... again!

I installed this camera system (by myself) on my 2014 RAM 1500 Crew Cab in about an hour and a half, but only because I couldn't believe how easy it was for me... I kept thinking that I missed a step and rechecked my work a few times, but it actually went perfectly!
Required drilling a small hole in a plastic grommet underneath the driver's seat from below to pass the cable through, but there was plenty of room to do it and this was a perfect location for the hole.
Here's a tip: get some gray press-in-place caulk tape (about $5 at the home centers). As I moved closer to the cab, I was able to run the cable along the rolled metal edge of the body and secure it in place with the caulk tape in a few locations. I also used the caulk tape to seal the opening through which I passed the cable.
One and only one criticism: most of the negative comments I see about this system, including mine, center around the fact that the supplied cable is just too short. I understand that Hopkins sends out additional cable quickly, but... please just make the cable a foot or two longer! My self-install would have looked completely professionally done if there was enough cable supplied. As it stands, I had to "cut the corner" over the dash to get to my mounting location.
Camera works great! No more seething at my wife and daughter while asking for help to hitch the trailer. It seems they just don't know how to give specific directions when outside the house.
Just what the doctor ordered
By Keith Hoferman, January 31, 2015
Installed on my 2012 RAM 1500 quad cab, and was able to put the monitor just left of the rearview mirror where you naturally look anyway. Cable was just long enough. I routed it inside the left frame rail, and then up through the emergency brake cable plug. Installation is fiddly, but easy. Not having to cut or splice my stock wires is a huge plus. Monitor is small, but the clarity is very good, and backing up to the trailer is 100 times easier now. Plus having a backup camera and sensors for everyday backing is much better than having none.
It's great and Support is even better
By Gary, January 28, 2015
Got the hitch/backup camera as gift. Cable was a couple feet short. I called and they sent one out that day. Once hooked up it did not change modes. I called support and they sent a new one out with a return label for the old one. It works great. I can't honestly say if I was at fault or the first unit was faulty. Unit works perfect and monitor is big enough, it looked small at first, but, it fits above my center mirror and is fine. It works very well even with backup lights at night. My eyes are not as good as they once were so I did have a problem seeing the small indicator marks for adjusting the sensors and camera at the rear. The unit works great and saves me time hooking up to my trailer and is a real aid for backing up. And I don't think you'll find better support...especially by phone with the shortest hold time going.

where have this been
By Dan, September 19, 2014
I installed this on my 2004 Dodge Ram. Installation was very easy. I was a little unsure about the screen size but after using it it is great. Highly recommend.
Works great, but issues with mounting to window
By Joe Baker, July 4, 2014
The Camera and monitor work great, I as well needed longer cables and had no issue getting them from Hopkins. The issues I have is the Monitor won't stay attached to the glass. The original sticky pads lasted about two weeks, some aftermarket sticky pads lasted about 3 weeks.
I will call Hopkins to see if they have a solution for this.
Excellent System Package
By Harold, June 20, 2014
After ordering the package, I called Hopkins support and they sent me the extensions required for my truck. I was very pleased with the support staff. I installed this system on my 2008 Dodge 2500 MegaCab in just over an hour. I have a custom rear bumper which extends just short of 10" out from the license plate and I was apprehensive whether it would work or not. This system was so very easy to install and works extremely well. The only reason that I give is 4 stars is that the mounting system of the monitor limited me as to where/how I could mount the monitor in the Dodge cab. Other than that, I wish that I had bought this system a long time ago
Camping World Purchase
By John Heyd, June 12, 2014
Saw the back up camera in the Camping World catalog. Purchased the set up and had them install it for $39 - great deal. Works wonderful on my 2006 F-150 Crew Cab with the 6.5 ft. box. Cable was a little short for a top mount but the guys placed the screen in the lower left corner of the dash which is perfect for my needs. This is a great product and will probably save a few arguments with my wife.

I just completed a install in less than 1 Hr on my 2010 Ford F150 Crew cab. Just followed the directions and it was extremely easy. I did contact Hopkins Support and the sent me out free of charge 2 extra length of cables. This camera is awesome work great for tow hookup and also great when normal backups. Highly recommend this unit. Install easy for any novice. Lovin it.
Just wired up!
By Brian, November 9, 2013
I got this on sale for a great price. I wired it to a 2013 F-150 Crew Cab 5'5" box. It is amazing that there is nothing to splice and it connects very simply with existing trailer jack. It is a T-adapter that wires between the truck and the connector so both of your trailer pins still work perfectly. I had just enough wire to run the monitor on the driver side dash directly out the firewall and to the rear of the vehicle. If you have a longer vehicle you will probably be short on cable. The monitor comes on when you put the vehicle in reverse and has a great picture on the screen. I had it all wired and adjusted in 1 hour being very picky about wiring and doing it on my back in the driveway! Great product.
Wish these had come out years ago.
By Herman Smith, September 10, 2013
I just installed this on a 10' F-150 crew, it works as good as any factory installed sensor/back up camera system. It took about 30 minutes and it was up and running. Love it!
Perfect for Towing and Everyday Use!!!!!
By John R., July 10, 2013
The camera installation at first scared me because I have a 2013 Ram and Dodge has always had a different wire harness than Chevy or Ford but It was a snap.
The camera and proximity sensors mount like any other license plate bracket so that was really easy.
The supplied Plug connectors is what worried me but I just unplugged the factory plug from vehicle 7 way plug and plugged in the T-Connector which powered the camera and sensors. (no wires for me to cut)
Then I just ran the wires under the truck along the frame until I found an entry way into the cab of the vehicle. I than ran the wire under the trim to up under the dash to an exit point that was close to the camera.
The camera screen is just the right size and being a full color screen helps a lot. The proximity sensors work great to let you know when you are too close to something.
I rate this product 5 out of 5 stars for ease of installation, quality and easy to use.
